Membership has its standards
Be a Cool Parent. Make it official.
Cool Parent Certified is a simple, public pledge. You commit to a short checklist of the things that actually matter for kids and screens — then you're certified, and the friends you connect with can see it. No app to install on your kid's phone. No tracking. Just a standard you hold yourself to, out in the open.
Invite-only for now · Free · Sign in with Google — we only ever see your name and email.
The pledge
To get certified you attest to all three. They're not aspirations — they're things you're already doing, or are ready to commit to today.
-
Adult content stays out of reach.
Every device my kid can get to is walled off from adult material — through a kid-safe DNS such as Cloudflare for Families, monitoring software like Bark, or another active safeguard I keep in place and maintain.
-
Screens have a bedtime, too.
Devices are handed in at a set hour each night. My kid does not have free, unsupervised access to screens overnight.
-
Sleep comes before screens.
My kid has a calm space and a consistent, reasonable bedtime — and the chance to sleep in. We protect rest rather than optimizing for screen time or staying connected to friends.
New to locking devices down? Cloudflare's free 1.1.1.1 for Families blocks adult content across your whole home network in a few minutes — the easiest way to meet the first commitment.

How it works
- 1 Sign in with Google and pick a handle other parents can find you by.
- 2 Read the pledge and attest. We record it, and your profile flips to Certified.
- 3 Add your friends by their handle. You'll see who's certified — and they can add you back.
Why bother?
Every parent says screens are a problem. Far fewer have actually done the three boring things that fix most of it: lock devices away from adult content, put them to bed before the kids do, and protect sleep over scrolling. Cool Parent Certified turns "we should really…" into a thing you've done — and a quiet bit of accountability among the friends who hold the same line.
